Jeff and Maya Bohnhoff

Guests of Honor, Jeff & Maya Bohnhoff
Maya is an author published in Analog, Amazing Stories, Interzone, and other respected magazines. Her most recent novel (with Michael Reaves) is the Del Rey paperback release, Mr. Twilight, the second book in Michael Reaves' Hell on Earth series. Jeff is a very talented musician.

Together, they're combined talents and imaginations earned them the 2003 Pegasus Award for Best Parody for "Knights In White Satin," and another in 2005 for Best Performer, as well as several fine CDs: Retro Rocket Science - a collection of wicked parodies of classic rock songs; Manhattan Sleeps showcasing original songs; and their latest - Aliens Ate My Homework! which features the parody "We Are the Cubs Fans" (played on the 'Dr. Demento' radio show.) Jeff and Maya recently collaborated with ex-Duras Sisters Chris Dickenson and Elizabeth Burnham on the CD Harmony Heifers, which Jeff produced and arranged. They're working on a new CD of original music, tentatively titled Mobius Street. Jeff is currently producing the CD version of Nancy Freeman's Stardust County, with a cast of thousands, and he also produced a couple of tracks on Seanan McGuire's upcoming CD, Stars Fall Home.

You are SO going to have a blast with these folks!

Toastmaster, Brian Richardson
At first glance our Toastmaster seems a strange individual without enough free time to keep up with everything he wants to do ...

… it's amazing how accurate a first glance can be.

Born at a very early age, Brian lived the standard "outcast nerd in a small Southern town" life until the age of 16 when he was accepted to the North Carolina School of Science & Mathematics. Promoted to uber-geek status, Brian started dabbling in video production with the help of the school's media lab. Deciding against a career in television for many sane reasons (low salaries, lack of job security, mediocre looks, and bad teeth), Brian went to Clemson University to get an Electrical Engineering degree. During six years of math, programming, elective classes and power electronics labs that might kill you if you’re not paying attention, Brian got involved with student radio (WSBF-FM). This did nothing good for his free time, and lead to him co-founding the campus cable television network (CCN) around 1995.

Brian left college in June 1996 to work in Atlanta, Georgia (okay, not actually in Atlanta, but you can see the smog sometimes). He married a wonderful woman named Suzan whom he met in college. He did manage to finish his MSEE in 1997, and slowly tried to blend into the normal life of a computer programmer. That didn’t last long. In 1998, Brian was introduced to Dragon*Con. After starting work with the Technical Operations staff, he started making silly Dragon*ConTV videos with several staff members. This has consumed parts of his basement, several months of every year and somehow made him the videography director of Dragon*Con. Dragon*ConTV introduced Brian to the dark underbelly of podcasting. Thanks to vile characters like Steve Eley and Michael R. Mennenga, Brian and his friends thought WhatTheCast was a good idea. God help us all ...

Brian has been a writer for linux.com, along with his own blog (siliconchef.com) started in 2001. For a number of strange reasons, Brian has been featured on Slashdot, Slice Of Scifi and Device Forge. Brian doesn’t have a lot of time for his drumming as of late, but does play with the jazz combo Play It With Moxie at GAFilk each year.

Our Interfilk Guests, The Brobdingagian Bards, (pronounced brob-din-nahg-EE-en), Andrew McKee and Marc Gunn, are a Celtic Renaissance music duo from Austin, Texas. Their unique brand of folk music on the autoharp, recorder, and mandolin has made them one of the most-popular Celtic music groups online where they give away thousands of free Celtic MP3 downloads daily. The Brobdingnagian Bards perform coast-to-coast, and in a given month might be at a Lord of the Rings Oscar Party, a Celtic festival, or a science fiction convention. However, they are an absolute favorite at renaissance faires where they add high-energy and wit to make every show a memorable experience.

Plus our SUPER SECRET GA-UEST Once again, GAFilk will be bringing in another special surprise guest. This is someone who has contributed in a mighty way to the sf/fantasy world, who loves the filk community, and who rarely gets an opportunity to attend a convention without the pressures heaped upon "pros". We want to give this person the opportunity to simply enjoy the convention and have a good time.
